The City members of the District Plan Commission will be appointed at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, at the City Council Meeting at Brighton City Hall, 500 South 4th Avenue. Their first meeting as a commission will be at 3 p.m., Wednesday, March 8, in the City Council Study Session Room at Brighton City Hall. At this meeting, staff will be swearing in the City Commission Members and presenting certificates to the County Members.
The District Plan will serve as a comprehensive planning document for both Adams County and the City of Brighton. Adopted in April 2016, the Plan is for the area generally bounded by Bromley on the north, Buckley Road on the east, E-470 along the south and the South Platte River corridor on the west.
The Plan is expected to guide future and balanced development and possible agricultural preservation efforts in this area. It will address land use, transportation, sustainability (including, but not limited to, economic, environment, and social elements), land preservation (agricultural and natural), corridor or area specific planning, public health, economic development, recreation, and historic and cultural preservation, and much more.
