Detectives in Brighton are investigating an incident in which a Brighton woman was reportedly taken from her home at gunpoint Sunday evening.
Police received an emergency dispatch to the 200 block of Denver St. at about 7:40 p.m. Sunday evening; when officers arrived, they were told that an 18-year-old woman had been abducted by her biological father.
According to witnesses, the woman was inside her home watching television with two younger sisters and an unrelated juvenile female when one of her sisters told her their father was outside the residence. The witnesses said they heard a noise that sounded like a gunshot, then saw the girls’ father enter the residence with a black and silver handgun. After pointing the weapon at one of his juvenile daughters, the man went to the bedroom where his adult daughter was and yelled “Let’s go.” He reportedly threatened two of the juveniles and his adult daughter with the handgun before leaving with her in a silver-colored BMW.
The 18-year-old woman, whose identity is not available for release, was found unharmed by officers from the Greeley Police Department following up on information provided by Brighton detectives. The identity of her father is being withheld pending filing of possible charges.
